I think the Book Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick your Ass is an interesting book because the main conflict in the book is that Yaqui Delgado is mad at Piddy, the main character because she was supposedly "shaking her ass". I think the book is pretty good it can get confusing sometimes but other than that I've liked it. Piddy the main character has changed a little bit because of the Yaqui Delgado issue and her finding out what actually happened to her dad. So so far the book is pretty good and it's kept me interested so I'm interested to find out more.

Over spring break I went to Texas. I guess the main reason why we went all the way down there was for a wedding but I didn't really go for that specific purpose. My family and I went to the Houston area more specifically Galveston. My parents thought it was a good idea to drive 16 hours with packed car full of 6 people, but what can you do about that. We stopped right on the boarder of Texas and Oklahoma in a little town called Denison Texas I think. Texas is a lot different Iowa in lots of ways but its fun.
So over break while I was in Texas we rented a beach house and went to the beach everyday even though it was like 60 degrees. But we got a golf cart which made things interesting and a tad more convenient. The wedding was pretty fun and lit because they had a golf course which was on a plantation which made me wonder but all and all my trip to Texas was really fun and I would go back. 1. In a paragraph or two compare (similarities) and contrast (differences) Night and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
The differences in night and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is that the boy in the striped pajamas focuses more on a family and there life. They move to the country with their father who is a soldier and this doesn't happen in Night. And The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is focused a lot on a young boy and his friend that is different than him because he is Jewish and is in a concentration camp. Another way this is different is that the book Night is more focused on life inside the camps rather than outside of them with people who aren't Jewish just like in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Similarities would be that it's on the same topic of the holocaust. They are both same in that they are both focus on a boy during this time and kind their story and pint of view. Its' also the same because they are both about a family and what they had to deal with in the Holocaust. 2. Choose 1 character from Night or one character from Boy in the Striped Pajamas to analyze. Make note (explain) of their physical appearance, character traits, feelings, demeanor, thoughts, etc. Bruno in the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a curious eight year old who likes to explore and learn new things. He is very smart and catches onto things quick but he needs time to process everything that is going on. He feels that the Jews should not be treated the way they are and that's wrong. He changes his mind quickly about missing home and wanting to leave when he meets schmual who is a the same age as Bruno but is in a work camp with his father. 3. How have your thoughts or understandings of the Holocaust changed since completing this unit (background research, Night, Boy in the Striped Pajamas? I didn't realize how horrible it was and how bad it was for Jewish people in this time until I research more about it and read the book night and got to see more what it was like inside a camp and see it from a different perspective in that I got to see what it was like for one person and his one family and how bad it was for them. So I didn't think of it as bad it as I do now because the work in this unit and the book Night and the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. 4. Which did you like better and why (book or movie)? I thought the movie was better because it seemed mire detailed to me and ii got to see what it was actually like and i could understand it better. 5. Any final thoughts or questions you have regarding either the book, movie, or Holocaust in general? No Jacob Means
Pg. 100 Elie had a memory of when they were in a wagon and a worker through a large piece of bread into it and everyone in there fought over every piece and crumb. This memory could be important because it shows how much they suffer to get food and how bad it is and what they have to go through at the camps. Pg. 105 Elie's father wants to basically die and says to leave him when they are waiting to take a hot shower and Elie refuses to let his father rest because he will kill himself if he does rest there in the snow. The reason Elie acted this way is because if he would have let his father rest there he would die and he didn't want that to to happen so he pushed him to move on and not stop and rest. Jacob Means
Pg. 78 The Jewish Doctor in the camp, also a prisoner, tells Elie that they have to operate on his foot because it was swelling from the cold and if they didn't operate they would have to amputate. The lesson is to be prepared. This means that they are fixing something before it gets worse. This effects Elie in a way that if he didn't get his foot operated on he might be selected and die because if the amputation or he could just die from the swelling if he doesn't get it treated. A priority for a president would be to make colleges affordable or everyone. The reason I think this is because some people and parents don't have the money to send there children to college and to get a good education. And there are lots a jobs that we have that require a degree. And without college education and a degree they may not be able to get a good paying job.
Another priority would be to maybe not build the wall across the boarder. The reason I think the wall shouldn't be built is because it costs to build it and it will cost money over years. I understand why they want to build it I just think it shouldn't be built. The last priority would be to stop discrimination. I think this should be stopped because i think everyone should be treated equal. Discrimination is a bad thing and its wrong that's why I think it should be stopped. I believe that everyone is equal and should be treated the same. Over winter break my family had friends over from Cinncinati. We did lots of stuff like we went to the mall and saw movies. Also over winter break I played lots of basketball and went to practice so that was fun. And I got lots of Christmas presents so thta was good too.
One of the presents I got for Christmas was the virtual reality thing that you put your phne in and it has these different scenes and it feels like you are acually there. It slao sucks a lot because it's super scary. They have all of these differnt scary scenes you cann do and they suck they are really scary. 8 life skills all 18-year olds should have is an article about what life skills 18 year olds should have and thta they should all be able to do. One is being able to talkl to stangers this is and important life skill because you should be able to talk to a waiter or a waitress at a resturant. Being able to do some of the skills in the article help you be successful in life.
I can do many of the skills brought up in the article such as, talking to strangers and managing my assignments in school. I think that all of the life skills are important becasue you need to be able to talk to strangers and people you dont know very well. I don't think that they are pushign us to far because i think that everyone should beable to do most of these things. I think the rule with no phones should be changed or that they shouldn't be as stict with it. The resson why I think this is because I think that they can be useful. But i also think that soem teachers shouln't as strict with the rule because some of them take them even if they see it they take it and I think that's bogus becasue you may not even be using it.
